Mind, Ego -- and transpersonal psychology
the essence
In the Tao Te Ching, Lao Tzu said (and I am using a translation by Henry Wei)

Without going out of doors,
one can know the world;
without looking through the window,
one can realise the Way of Heaven.
The farther one goes,
the less one knows.
Therefore the sage knows without going out,
discriminates without seeing,
and accomplishes without action.

The Western mind sees things from an opposite perspective to the Eastern orientated Mind - on which many of the the basic tenets of Transpersonal Psychology are based.
Awareness and bliss; the mind's perception of one's Divinity is an ego trip. Silence is beyond Self because Self has become One ... there is no witness, there is no witnessed
ego
By its very definition ('Trans' = beyond), the Transpersonal cannot be understood by the intellect although many have tried to formulate paradigms. There is a huge difference between the ego and The Ego .. and the ego doesn't like it.
memory
memory is a re-creation of something from the past in the present moment, according to your past conditioning and beliefs
